About us
CarbonX is an advanced materials company based in Delft, developing a revolutionary carbon material for the next generation of batteries. A fast-growing spin-off from TU Delft, we now operate at commercial scale with global clients, international partners, and a growing team of innovators. Our labs and offices are located in Delft, and our work contributes to building a more resilient and sustainable battery supply chain.
About the role
We’re looking for a Production Supervisor (Raw Materials Mixing) to lead and control CarbonX’s feedstock (emulsion) preparation process during production campaigns.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring consistent, safe, and high-quality preparation of raw materials, maintaining continuous and reliable supply to the reactor.
CarbonX introduces new materials and mixing logic into existing carbon black factories. This makes this role critical for both process stability and safety, requiring strong technical judgement, hands-on operational leadership, and comfort working in dynamic production environments.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will oversee raw materials mixing activities and ensure production campaigns run smoothly, safely, and consistently.
Key responsibilities
Perform or support equipment and reactor readiness checks prior to production.
Support qualification of raw materials prior to production.
Lead feedstock/emulsion preparation activities during production runs.
Execute and enforce preparation recipes, SOPs, and safety procedures.
Ensure correct dosing, mixing order, timing, and sampling.
Coordinate preparation operators and daily workflows on site.
Own process safety for the feedstock preparation step.
Participate in HAZOPs and safety reviews related to materials preparation.
Adjust preparation steps based on QC feedback.
Drive process optimization of preparation and mixing steps.
Maintain consistency and repeatability across batches.
Contribute to continuous improvement and updating of SOPs.
Why join?
Impact: Play a central role in CarbonX’s production campaigns, directly influencing safety, stability, and material quality.
Growth: Work in a scaling industrial environment where you can shape processes, systems, and operational excellence.
Team Culture: Collaborate closely with Control Room and Quality Supervisors in a transparent, feedback-driven team.
Innovation: Help introduce and stabilize new materials and preparation logic in real production plants.
Benefits: Competitive salary, commuting allowance, 25 days of annual paid leave, 30% ruling support if applicable.
Who you are
You’re a technically strong and hands-on production professional who thrives in operational environments.
You combine structured process discipline with practical problem-solving and take ownership of safety, consistency, and performance.
You are comfortable working in changing production conditions and coordinating teams on-site.
Requirements
BSc/MSc in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar.
Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial chemical or materials manufacturing.
Experience with mixing, blending, dosing, or batch preparation at industrial scale.
Strong understanding of process safety and HAZOP.
Experience starting up and commissioning industrial production campaigns.
Background in petrochemical, specialty chemicals, carbon materials, pharma, or cosmetics.
Comfortable working in changing production environments.
Strong communication and operational leadership skills.
You are comfortable travelling abroad for production projects for up to 3–4 months per year.
Ready to join us?
If this sounds like the perfect role for you, we’d love to hear from you!
