About CarbonX

At CarbonX, we’re transforming the battery industry with cutting-edge materials that outperform traditional graphite. Our efficient production process minimizes energy use and emissions, fosters local manufacturing, and reduces reliance on conventional graphite supply chains.

As we scale, we need to ensure that quality is embedded in everything we do—both internally and externally. That’s why we’re looking for a part-time Quality Manager who will play a key role in establishing and maintaining world-class quality standards at CarbonX.

What You’ll Do

As a Quality Manager, you will be responsible for building and leading CarbonX’s quality function, ensuring that we meet and exceed the highest industry standards. You’ll work closely with internal teams, customers, and external partners to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement in our quality processes.

Please note that this is a part-time role based on 1 day per week, with a possibility of growing into a full-time role in the long run.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Strategy & Implementation

  • Develop and implement a quality management system (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Drive CarbonX’s journey towards higher levels of accreditation (e.g., IATF 16949) in line with customer expectations.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess and address gaps in quality processes.

Customer & Supplier Quality Management

  • Act as the key quality representative in discussions with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure CarbonX meets customer quality expectations by aligning internal processes with industry best practices.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts for quality-related customer concerns.

Building & Leading the Quality Team

  • Recruit and develop a high-performing quality team as the company grows.
  • Train internal teams on quality processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance quality and reliability.
  • Develop and oversee quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes.

This role requires flexibility, with occasional travel to customer sites and presence in our Delft headquarters at least once a month.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Impact: Your work will directly shape CarbonX’s ability to scale and establish itself as a trusted supplier in the battery industry.
  • Growth: As we expand, this role has the potential to grow into a full-time leadership position.
  • Autonomy: You’ll have the opportunity to build a quality function from the ground up and implement best practices.
  • Innovation: Work in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment where quality drives business success.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a seasoned quality professional with a strong background in the automotive supply chain and a proven track record of implementing and managing quality systems.

Must-have qualifications:

  • Experience: 10–15 years in a quality leadership role, ideally within the automotive supplier industry.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001, IATF16949 and VDA 6.2, and best practices in quality assurance and control.
  • Experience managing quality expectations and relationships with customers.
  • Proven ability to build and coach a quality team.
  • Process Improvement: Expertise in Lean methodologies, Continuous Improvement, and Failure Mode Avoidance.
  • Experience with nonconformity management and RI&E.
  • Deep understanding of the automotive supply chain and quality expectations.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) experience.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
