About CarbonX

At CarbonX, we’ve created an innovative material that can replace traditional graphite in batteries – a material that not only performs better but is also more sustainable. Our process uses less energy, creates fewer emissions, and can be made locally, in existing carbon black facilities world-wide, reducing our reliance on supply chains that are vulnerable to disruption.

As we’re growing, we need more hands on deck to help us move from the lab to full-scale production. That’s where you come in!

What You’ll Do

As a Battery Technician, you’ll play a key role in making sure our new materials work just as they should. You’ll be testing and building battery cells, preparing slurries, and ensuring everything meets high quality standards. You’ll work alongside engineers and other battery technicians to help improve our materials and processes.

Your day-to-day:

  • Test materials and cells: You’ll run advanced tests on battery materials, electrodes, slurries, elecrodes, coin and single-pouch cells – using different techniques like electrochemical testing, rheology, and thermal analysis.
  • Prepare and test slurries & electrodes: Mix materials for the slurries, coat and calender electrodes, and perform quality control.
  • Build & test batteries: Assemble and test coin and pouch cells to check how well they perform.
  • Maintain the lab: Keep our equipment running smoothly and safely – and make sure we follow the right procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team: Work closely with engineers and technicians to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Impact: You’re not just making batteries; you’re helping create a more sustainable world. Every test, every experiment, every battery you build brings us one step closer to changing how energy is stored and used.
  • Room to Grow: As we scale, we’ll be growing too. There’s plenty of opportunity here to learn new skills, take on more responsibility, and shape your career.
  • Great Team: We work hard, but we have fun doing it. It’s a team full of smart, driven people who love to collaborate and support each other.
  • Work with Cutting-Edge Tech: You’ll be working on some of the most innovative battery technologies out there. Every day is a chance to learn and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
  • Flexible and Supportive Culture: We value work-life balance and support each other as we tackle the challenges ahead.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, loves working with new technologies, and is excited about the future of energy. If you’re curious, detail-oriented, and enjoy working with a team, you’ll fit right in. Here’s what we’re hoping you bring:

  • An educational background in Chemistry or Materials Science.
  • At least 2-3 years of professional industry experience, preferably in batteries or energy storage.
  • Proven expertise in performing various laboratory tests and analyses, including but not limited to electrochemical testing, rheology, adhesion testing, thermal analysis, and microscopy techniques.
  • Solid skills in building & testing coin and pouch cells.
  • Knowledge of slurry making processes and quality control.
  • Knowledge in anode coating and characterisation.
  • Team player: You enjoy working closely with others to reach a shared goal.
  • A passion for sustainability and innovation – the kind of work that makes a difference.

Not meeting all of the requirements? No worries, some of the skills can be trained. If you meet at least 70% of the technical requirements and are really excited about this role, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note that we're not able to provide visa support for this role.
