SolarDuck is a Dutch-Norwegian company that is pioneering the technology to bring solar PV to the seas, and we are looking for talented individuals to join our team.
As a spin-off of Damen Shipyards, a leading Dutch shipbuilder, SolarDuck was founded in 2019 by a team of experienced entrepreneurs from the maritime industry. We are headquartered in the Netherlands (Rotterdam) and have a growing international presence with offices in Norway and Japan.
Our vision is to Electrify the World with Offshore Floating Solar, and we have developed a unique technology to bring solar PV offshore. Thereby we enable access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and independent energy for energy consumers around the world.

The Role
As SolarDuck grows, we’re looking for a Project Cost Controller. In this role, you’ll guide our offshore solar projects financially, tackling challenges and ensuring our projects are both efficient and sustainable. Join our team in Rotterdam and play a key part in advancing renewable energy. We need a Project Cost Controller who isn’t just skilled in handling numbers but is also driven by a desire to contribute to a sustainable future.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure budget adherence;
- Generate detailed financial reports for each project;
- Track project performance against budgets, correlating financial data with work processes;
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction;
- Support the development of accurate project estimates and budgets;
- Analyze variances in both direct hire and contract hire work activities to prevent budget overruns;
- Detect trends indicating potential deviations from the budget and propose corrective actions;
- Recognize potential scope changes and their financial implications early;
- Provide input on the project schedule;
- Assist in developing, evaluating, and improving cost estimating, and control tools and processes;
- Establish work breakdown structures and prepare cost reports;
- Review and verify project invoices for accuracy and compliance with project budgets;
- Innovate by bringing fresh ideas to optimize financial processes and project delivery;
- Perform cost risk analysis for the relevant project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Financial Management, or a closely related field
- Experience in shipyard operations, offshore transportation and installation is highly valued, though we welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds who demonstrate relevant skills and a passion for our mission
- 3+ years relevant experience
- Exceptional ability with figures and financial forecasting.
