SolarDuck is a Dutch-Norwegian company that is pioneering the technology to bring solar PV to the seas, and we are looking for talented individuals to join our team.

SolarDuck was founded in 2019 by a team of experienced entrepreneurs from the maritime industry. We are headquartered in the Netherlands (Rotterdam) and have a growing international presence with currently offices in Norway and Japan.

Our vision is to Electrify the World with Offshore Floating Solar, and we have developed a unique technology to bring solar PV offshore. Thereby we enable access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and independent energy for energy consumers around the world.

The Role

We’re on the lookout for a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to enrich our team at SolarDuck. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished track record in project financing, adept corporate finance skills including strategic planning, and a deep understanding of international business operations. An essential aspect of the role is the ability to manage the complexities of scaling up globally, navigating through diverse regulatory landscapes with ease. Your expertise in driving financial growth and managing large- scale project rollouts will be key.

As SolarDuck ambitiously scales up, the role of the CFO becomes increasingly critical in our Executive Team. Your responsibilities will include creating project financing structures that align with the various stages of bankability and SolarDuck’s global operations. Additionally, you will focus on securing growth financing to further our mission.

As a key member of our Executive Board, you will work closely with the CEO, CTO, and CCO, playing a significant role in shaping our company’s culture and strategic direction. Responsibilities

  • Develop Corporate and project Finance strategies and lead concrete initiatives to fund the company and projects increasing stakeholder and shareholder value.
  • Craft and execute financial strategies that maximize project viability and profitability, aligning with the organization’s overall financial goals;
  • Build and maintain relationships with investors, providing transparent and timely communication on financial performance;
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth and profitability goals;
  • Set up, manage, and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Assess and manage financial risks, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards;
  • Lead the budgeting process, providing accurate financial forecasts and insights to support decision-making;
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Evaluate and advise on potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships to drive strategic growth. This also applies to potential project collaboration and participation in Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV’s);
  • Skilfully manage treasury operations with precision, ensuring optimal cash flow and financial stability;
  • Strategically guide and supervise investment rounds, collaborating with external partners for successful capital acquisition.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the renewable energy or technology sector.
  • Hands-on experience with corporate & project finance.
  • Understanding of international finance and the ability to navigate global financial landscapes in
    a scale-up setting;
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align financial strategies with overall business objectives;
  • Possess and continue to develop an extensive international network in sectors relevant to project finance and impact financing.
  • Introduce a unique and diverse network, complementing and enhancing the existing team dynamics.
  • Expertise in negotiating and securing favorable financial terms and partnerships, supported by a strong background in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Demonstrates a consistent ability to address financial challenges with practical solutions, maintaining a constant focus on ethical standards and financial integrity.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills for articulating complex financial information to diverse stakeholders, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and has a proven track record in leadership and team management;
  • Prioritizes achieving financial goals and boosting profitability, adapts seamlessly to changes in the business environment, and understands the financial implications of customer-centric strategies;
  • Professional proficiency in English.
