SolarDuck is a fast-growing cleantech company pioneering the technology to bring solar PV to the seas. The company (a spin-off of Damen Shipyards, a leading Dutch shipbuilder) was founded in 2020 by a team of experienced entrepreneurs from the maritime industry. SolarDuck is headquartered in the Netherlands.

Fueled by the vision to Electrify the World with Offshore Floating Solar to solve the problem of land scarcity and increased offshore energy requirements, SolarDuck has developed a unique technologies to bring solar PV, the fastest-growing source of renewable energy, offshore. In this way, enabling energy consumers across the globe to access affordable, reliable and sustainable energy and providing energy independence as added benefit.

SolarDuck´s technology and organization are maturing rapidly. We launched its first demonstrator in 2021 the Netherlands. In 2024 we launched a full-scale pilot in the North Sea, and the first commercial project was delivered in Japan. The commercial team is continuously busy establishing strategic partnerships and developing leads for both utility scale grid connected projects and small scale ‘mini-grid’ projects to power offshore assets.
