SteamVR Integration Intern

SenseGlove enables real touch in the digital world: we make the digital feeling real.

About SenseGlove

Virtual Reality has revolutionized various industries, from gaming to healthcare, and now it is making its mark on training and education.
VR training solutions offer a realistic and immersive environment that allows trainees to practice their skills, make decisions, and learn from their mistakes in a safe and controlled environment. While visual and auditory stimuli play a significant role in creating a realistic VR experience, the sense of touch cannot be overlooked.

The goal of this internship is to connect the SenseGloves to this open-source software to allow for compatibility with these applications.

What About the Team?

We are located within the high-tech incubator YES!Delft. We work with a growing interdisciplinary team of talents, consisting of a mix of senior and junior team members with a worldwide ambition to change the way we interact with digital environments. Our corporate culture is flat and informal, but we are professionally organized. Personal responsibility is vital in the way we work.

Job Description

The SenseGloves are currently integrated with among a few others Unity and Unreal Engine. However, this requires customers to make a simulation specifically for these gloves, and no third-party games and software are compatible with the gloves. There are open-source projects (for example OpenGloves) that did manage to integrate haptic gloves with existing games and software.

This makes the gloves compatible with most games providing hand tracking or Valve Index controller support via SteamVR (OpenVR), while haptic feedback has been integrated with several games, including Half-Life Alyx and Boneworks via custom mods.

Requirements

The project has a difficulty level for a university bachelor student (HBO) but do not hesitate to apply if you feel you have sufficient experience or higher education.
You have:
  • Experience with C++ development and object-oriented programming
  • It is a plus if you have experience with VR development
Please tell us about your experience in a cover letter and also provide a Github link if you have an example of a C++ project that you can showcase.

What we offer?

  • Bi-weekly team lunches
  • Lots of adventure; and nice colleagues
  • Fun team building activities
  • €270 monthly compensation
  • Start date January 2024
