About Us:

Paebbl is a founder-led start up in the emerging field of climate technology and the new “carbon economy”. Our mission is to permanently sequester CO2 and repurpose it into products that the world needs. Inspired by natural CO2 mineralization, our technology accelerates this process by a factor of a million and is now ready for scale-up. We are privately financed by supportive, long-term oriented institutional and private investors, and our diverse team includes experts from technology, industrial engineering, digital innovation, waste management, finance, and academia.

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Instrumentation Engineer to join our Engineering team. As an Instrumentation Engineer, you will be pivotal in the design and implementation of the instruments and equipment essential for the efficient and safe operation of our continuous demonstration plant, which is set to start up this year. This role demands a deep understanding of engineering principles and industry standards to ensure system reliability, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

Design and Development:
  • Collaborate with the Automation Lead to achieve key project objectives in the design, development, construction, commissioning, and start-up of all instrumentation and control systems for the demonstration plant.
  • Select appropriate hardware and software, create schematics, and ensure integration with current and future systems.
Project Management:
  • Manage projects from conception to completion, including planning budgeting, scheduling, and collaborating with cross -functional teams.
Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all instruments comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Technical Support:
  • Troubleshoot process and operational issues with a team of operators, engineers, and other specialists.
  • Identify creative opportunities to reduce costs and improve our CO2 footprint.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with principles of safety in design and operations, with solid, practical experience in engineering, operational, and technical tasks.
  • Ability to liaise with other engineering disciplines, vendors, and peers to develop and execute projects.
  • Expertise in instrumentation, hardware, sensors, PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI technologies.
  • Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and emergency shutdown systems (ESD).
  • Proficiency in specifying and selecting field instrumentation, transmitters, control valves, and on/off valves.
  • Strong interest in rapid learning of O-PAS Standards.
  • Understanding of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance practices for processing units and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Knowledge of CAD and other software used for smart engineering is a plus.
  • Experience in developing Cause-and-Effect Diagrams and Control Narratives with process engineers.
  • Ability to assist in factory and site acceptance tests and supervise construction contractors.
  • Actively involved in commissioning activities.
  • A positive, growth mindset, with the humility to recognize and learn from mistakes and adapt to improve.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new situations, people, and ways of working, seeking accelerated growth with a fearless approach to learning new skills.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to argue ideas clearly, concisely, and constructively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills for both technical and non-technical issues.

What We Offer:

  • Market-rate salary.
  • Stock option program participation.
  • Private healthcare insurance.
  • Annual training and development budget.
  • Annual wellness budget.
  • 25 days of paid vacation.
