About Us:
Innatera is a rapidly growing Dutch semiconductor company that develops ultra-efficient neuromorphic processors for AI at the edge. These microprocessors mimic the brain’s mechanisms for processing fast data streams from sensors, enabling complex turn-key sensor analytics functionalities, with 10,000x higher performance per watt than competing solutions. Innatera's technology serves as a critical enabler for next-generation use cases in the IoT, wearable, embedded, and automotive domains.
As an ML Applications & Data Collection Intern, you'll play a key part in helping our applications team collect and process high-quality sensor data, support tooling and evaluation pipelines, and contribute to testing how our chips behave in real-world scenarios. You'll work closely with engineers from different disciplines - embedded systems, signal processing, and machine learning, and gain hands-on experience across multiple parts of the development cycle.
Please note that we only consider students who are undertaking the internship to obtain ECTS credits from their universities or who are including the internship as part of their thesis topic or research.
We will trust you with:
Own and operate data collection sessions using our in-house sensor systems (audio/vision/radar);
Log and structure recordings in line with test specifications and ML model requirements;
Support our sensor calibration, test preparation, and embedded data workflows;
Assist in scripting data collection and preprocessing tools (Python, Bash, etc.);
Contribute to test automation and reporting scripts where possible;
Shadow parts of the signal processing and ML evaluation cycle;
(Optional) Help develop internal tools or dashboards for annotation, model visualization, or signal QA.
What will you need to succeed:
To be enrolled in a BSc/MSc program (e.g., Computer Science, AI, EE, Mechatronics);
Familiarity with Python and shell scripting;
Comfortable in Linux/Windows environments;
Strong attention to detail — structured data is gold!;
Curious about embedded AI, edge ML, or neuromorphic computing;
Organised and self-directed — you’ll manage your own mini-projects and timelines;
Fluent in English.
What you’ll gain:
Real exposure to sensor data pipelines, embedded ML, and neuromorphic systems;
Opportunity to work alongside engineers building next-gen AI hardware;
Flexibility to shape parts of your project based on your interests (e.g., tooling, testing, automation);
Clear ownership over a deliverable that you can showcase in your portfolio/thesis.
We offer you:
At Innatera, you'll be part of a team shaping the future of AI hardware. Your work will help create solutions that power intelligent devices, improving industries and empowering everyday life, from consumer electronics to healthcare.
Our culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and real-world impact provides a unique opportunity to work alongside disruptive innovators, talented engineers, researchers, and specialists.
As part of our team, we recognise that your expertise and dedication are invaluable. To ensure your success and well-being, we offer a comprehensive benefits package:
Internship allowance;
Ambitious team with the freedom to innovate;
A flexible working environment (work-from-home policy, flexible working hours);
