Senior Engineering Manager
HousingAnywhere
We’re on a mission to become the go-to destination for students across Europe to find a trusted home away from home. We make every move simple and seamless, so students can focus on what really matters: studying, exploring, and growing in their new city.
With HousingAnywhere, Kamernet, and Studapart under our roof, we’re proud to be Europe’s largest mid-term rental platform. And we’re just getting started.
Our international teams are driven by a shared purpose: to empower students to embrace change, unlock their potential, and shape a world without borders.
You’ll find us in Rotterdam, Paris, and Cergy, working across cultures and time zones, always guided by our four core values:
- Ownership
- We are Enablers
- We are Changemakers
- We are Connectors
As a Senior Engineering Manager at HousingAnywhere, you will play a critical role in leading the evolution of our platform with your vision. You will join the Product Engineering team, specifically overseeing the Business Operation and Booking Experience domains. You will collaborate strictly with different product teams and departments—from Sales to Finance to Customer Support—tending to both internal and external customers.
We expect you to lead and enable your teams to deliver effectively, setting the right technical direction while leveraging the talent present in your team. While we expect you to be technical, your focus will be on strategy and leadership rather than heavy hands-on coding.
Our Tech Stack
At the Backend we mostly use Go, Postgres, and Redis. At the Frontend we use React, Typescript, and NodeJs. Our infrastructure runs on GCP, and we are heavy users of Kubernetes. Our Architecture is a distributed architecture made of several "Modular Monoliths". We practise DevOps, Continuous Delivery, Domain Driven Design, and Contract Driven Development.
Your role
In your daily role, your impact will be defined by four key pillars: Delivery, Direction, Talent, and Culture.
- Delivery: Lead your team to scope and plan projects, identifying bottlenecks and improving processes. You will ensure engineering standards are held high and remove impediments to provide a smooth developer experience.
- Direction: Create alignment and a sense of urgency through well-crafted strategies and goals. You will direct your team to relate their work to organizational goals and provide a clear sense of purpose.
- Talent: Nurture talent with regular feedback and performance reviews, supporting career growth. You will identify skill gaps and execute hiring strategies to acquire top talent.
- Culture: Lead by example to foster ownership, empowerment, and autonomy. You will promote a growth mindset, value diverse perspectives, and address problems to maintain a healthy team culture.
- Craft: Equip your team to solve problems with pragmatic, sustainable solutions. You will foster engineering excellence, support knowledge-sharing, and keep the team up to date with the latest technical trends.
