About Gradyent

\n

A quarter of all energy in the world is consumed to heat buildings. District heating is the most significant opportunity for cities to decarbonise. Gradyent is on a mission to help cities to decarbonise faster by digitising district heating systems with our digital twin: a SaaS platform that simulates and modulates the heating system of our clients. Backed by a group of top investors, we are scaling the platform globally.

\n

We currently have a team of 60+ people and offices in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Germany, and Hungary. Our team combines energy specialists, AI, developers, data scientists, commercial people, and top-tier consulting alums. We are expanding quickly and looking for a Digital Twin Engineer in the Netherlands to help us scale our SaaS platform across Europe.

\n

\n

What we do

\n

We offer a SaaS solution to create digital twins of heating systems. Our platform, powered by AI and analytics, optimises heating systems from heat sources to customers. We are transforming these grids by reducing CO2 and optimising its operations regarding temperatures, pressures, source dispatch and other metrics. These AI solutions minimise energy usage, CO2 emissions and operating costs while maintaining the proper end-user service levels.

Our tech team consists of three teams: the Back-End, Front-End and Digital Twin team.

\n

We are looking for a digital twin engineer to join our Digital Twin team (currently consisting of software engineers, digital twin engineers and data analysts). We are a passionate engineering team looking to make the maximum impact on sustainability through our SaaS platform. As part of the Digital Twin team, you will be working on a layer of intelligence (a combination of physics, mathematics and machine learning) that analyses and optimizes heat networks. As a digital twin engineer you will be analysing sensor data of customers, detecting patterns and anomalies. Next to that you will be building physical and/or machine learning models in Python. These models could range from pipe flow calculations to heat source modelling, and from demand forecasting to time delayed heat transfer.

Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Structuring/analyzing heat network data, being able to understand the main drivers in temperature and hydraulic behaviour of the networks
  • \n
  • Using and extending our digital twin to investigate patterns, outlying behaviour, and potential algorithms
  • \n
  • Researching new network opportunities and challenges
  • \n
  • Presenting findings to team members in a cohesive way

Heating is, therefore, one of the largest opportunities in the world to decarbonise; transforming Heating Grids unlocks the potential of low-carbon heat sources such as geothermal and waste heat. Yet, as Heating Grids transform, they will become increasingly complex and require a new approach to control and design. We believe that digital and data play a key role in this transformation and that traditional tooling for District Heating and Industrial Steam Grids has been insufficient. With our real-time Digital Twin Platform, we create a digital copy of your complete Heating Grid that runs in real time. This comprehensive software solution lets you optimise your grid, increase control and run simulations of future situations. So you can improve performance, reduce CO2 emissions by up to 10%, save on operating costs, realise up to 20% lower CapEx and make smarter operational and business decisions.","numberOfEmployees":62,"address":[{"address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressLocality":"Rotterdam, Netherlands"}}],"sameAs":"https://gradyent.ai","url":"https://gradyent.ai","logo":"https://cdn.getro.com/companies/1b207876-6373-572b-815d-62a0a8af64e2-1724246878","memberOf":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Up!Rotterdam","description":"","logo":"https://cdn.filepicker.io/api/file/zAWMuG3TzOlFj4jp4sb8","url":"jobs.uprotterdam.com"},"keywords":"Data and Analytics, DeepTech, Information Technology, Software, Sustainability"},"jobLocation":{"@type":"Place","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressLocality":"Rotterdam, Netherlands"}}}
