Digital Twin Engineer
\nAbout Gradyent
\nA quarter of all energy in the world is consumed to heat buildings. District heating is the most significant opportunity for cities to decarbonise. Gradyent is on a mission to help cities to decarbonise faster by digitising district heating systems with our digital twin: a SaaS platform that simulates and modulates the heating system of our clients. Backed by a group of top investors, we are scaling the platform globally.
\nWe currently have a team of 60+ people and offices in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Germany, and Hungary. Our team combines energy specialists, AI, developers, data scientists, commercial people, and top-tier consulting alums. We are expanding quickly and looking for a Digital Twin Engineer in the Netherlands to help us scale our SaaS platform across Europe.
\nWhat we do
\nWe offer a SaaS solution to create digital twins of heating systems. Our platform, powered by AI and analytics, optimises heating systems from heat sources to customers. We are transforming these grids by reducing CO2 and optimising its operations regarding temperatures, pressures, source dispatch and other metrics. These AI solutions minimise energy usage, CO2 emissions and operating costs while maintaining the proper end-user service levels.
\n\n\nWhat you will do
\nOur tech team consists of three teams: the Back-End, Front-End and Digital Twin team.
\nWe are looking for a digital twin engineer to join our Digital Twin team (currently consisting of software engineers, digital twin engineers and data analysts). We are a passionate engineering team looking to make the maximum impact on sustainability through our SaaS platform. As part of the Digital Twin team, you will be working on a layer of intelligence (a combination of physics, mathematics and machine learning) that analyses and optimizes heat networks. As a digital twin engineer you will be analysing sensor data of customers, detecting patterns and anomalies. Next to that you will be building physical and/or machine learning models in Python. These models could range from pipe flow calculations to heat source modelling, and from demand forecasting to time delayed heat transfer.
\nOur high level stack: Python, GCP, UbiOps, DuckDB, MongoDB, Parquet
\nResponsibilities
\n- \n
- Structuring/analyzing heat network data, being able to understand the main drivers in temperature and hydraulic behaviour of the networks \n
- Using and extending our digital twin to investigate patterns, outlying behaviour, and potential algorithms \n
- Researching new network opportunities and challenges \n
- Presenting findings to team members in a cohesive way \n
- Work closely together with software engineers to include your analysis in our digital twin \n
- Work together with teams of customer to implement our application, perform quick scans and get customer input \n
Who you are
\nDon’t meet all of the requirements but still enthusiastic and think you can make a difference? Apply!
- \n
- BSc/MSc in applied physics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, computer science or equivalent \n
- Familiarity with Python and software engineering principles \n
- Team player \n
- High degree of ownership and strong intrinsic drive \n
- And nice to have (not required): \n
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and/or machine learning \n
- Familiarity with GIS data and QGIS \n
