Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities / What you will do:

• Create design solutions while developing the product; during the development of our products, problems will have to be solved with innovative design solutions. You will be responsible for preparing the design to bring the development further.
• Detail design of prototypes;pragmatically create the drawings required to create prototypes
• Build prototypes; you will make the prototypes with tools provided in the (very well equipped) mechanical workshop. Based on the concept design, you create a working tool that you will build and assemble yourself and test it in the lab and if successful also in the field.
• Test & Learn: when testing the prototypes, you will engage in several roles, to make the test successful and optimize the learning effects.
• Collaboration; we are a small team where every individual counts. We need your analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to improve our product and drive our projects forward.
• Flexibility; Our small team does not allow us to set strict fixed roles, so while your main tasks will be as described, every individual is required to also take various other tasks as required by the company.
• Engage in problem-solving exercises, learn by doing on a daily basis and contribute fresh perspectives to the development of the GEHECO product.

What you bring:

• You are a very pragmatic and enthusiastic individual with a master degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical fields.
• Preferably multiple years of work experience in the field of green tech, engineering, prototyping or doing research (related to our topic), a previous role in a start-up is a plus.
• Passion for making things work. Your practical talent to create a real, working prototype is what counts most. You have a passion for making stuff work. Being able to analyze your work and come up with rapid solutions to improve it.
• Pragmatism; what works works. Solutions do not have to be perfect, you need to be able to build the prototypes with a 3D printer (available) and in the mechanical workshop. Experience using metal working tools is a big plus, as is experience in building or repairing mechanical devices.
• Digital skills; you need sufficient knowledge of 3D CAD software to create detailed designs

Your personality:

• You are flexible and able to cope with the uncertainties (and freedom!) of working at a start-up. Plans may change overnight; structures are not yet firmly in place. You need to deliver on the goal, but how you do it is very much up to you.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
• Strong collaborative and pragmatic mindset willing to learn by experimenting and doing.
• Passion for green technology and sustainability initiatives.
