Posted on Jan 28, 2026

As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will support the development, qualification, and operation of propulsion electrical systems for space applications. Working at system level, you will bridge electronics design, testing/verification, and operations, collaborating closely with the systems and customer project teams.

This role combines hands-on electrical engineering with system-level responsibility and offers exposure to the full lifecycle of flight hardware, from early requirements scoping through final testing and product support.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own electronics requirements definition, verification planning, and execution of system-level qualification and acceptance tests.
  • Act as the primary electrical point of contact during project delivery, supporting internal teams and engaging in technical discussions with customers when needed.
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of propulsion electrical system architectures, ensuring performance, reliability, and compatibility with mission requirements.
  • Triage, troubleshoot and repair electrical hardware issues at system-level, keeping product deliveries on schedule. Ensure root causes are addressed to prevent future occurrences.
  • Support propulsion operations through investigation of anomalies and implementation of corrective or preventative actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or an Aerospace/Engineering discipline with demonstrated competency in electrical or electronic systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering, system integration, or system-level testing in aerospace, space, or other high-reliability engineering environments.
  • Practical experience using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Experience with an EDA tool (e.g. KiCAD, Altium, or similar) and familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
  • Basic software skills (e.g. Python) for test, analysis, data processing and automation tasks.
  • Ability to communicate technical topics clearly in English and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices, including requirements management and verification.
  • Experience troubleshooting PCBs, sensors, electrical components, and basic communication interfaces (e.g. CAN or serial).
  • Experience working with structured documentation and engineering change processes.

ITAR Requirements

Please note this role involves access to controlled/secure technology.
Appointment is conditional on passing background/security vetting and, where required, obtaining any necessary export-control authorisations. Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis with reference to clearance and licensing requirements.

About Dawn Aerospace

Dawn Aerospace is a space transportation company with a purpose.
Our mission is to enable the next generation of space users by providing more sustainable and scalable ways to access and move around in space. We believe this access, in the form of a transportation network, will fundamentally change what’s possible from space. We currently focus on three areas of space transportation:

  • In-space propulsion
We're a leading supplier of turnkey green propulsion systems for various classes of satellites. Our systems utilise safe, accessible propellants and we have over 170 of these propulsion units on more than 40 operational satellites already. A further 200 units are in production.
  • In-space servicing
Coupled with our propulsion expertise, we are ensuring that our customers' satellites are refuellable. In the coming years, Dawn will offer a refueling service to enable life extension of customer satellites. This new market is aligned with our sustainability goal to ensue a clean and safe space for everyone!
  • Space launch
Our Mk-II Aurora spaceplane demonstrator has completed over 60 successful flights and we recently completed campaigns utilising our in-house rocket engine. Mk-II is unique in that it combines the performance of a rocket and the rapid reusability and economic model of an aircraft.

Our international teams are distributed across four locations: the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, and the USA.
