Are you a Product Owner with deep hands-on experience building billing and payments products in a scale-up or high-growth company? Do you thrive in lean, autonomous environments where you own the full domain—from VAT rules to payment integrations? Can you research regulatory requirements yourself, translate them into code, and ship features that have to work right?

If so, we’d love to meet you.

At C Teleport, we are transforming corporate travel by combining automation, machine learning and pragmatic commercial insight. As a Product Owner on the Billing Squad, you will own the end-to-end billing roadmap—invoicing, payments, reconciliation, revenue recognition, and tax compliance—that underpins our global platform. You will work directly with engineering, finance, and commercial teams to translate regulatory and business requirements into reliable, secure and scalable solutions. This is not a corporate coordination role; it’s hands-on, do-it-yourself ownership of a complex, business-critical domain in a scale-up environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Billing product area end-to-end: define vision, prioritise the backlog, write clear user stories with precise acceptance criteria, and drive delivery without handoff risk.

  • Own regulatory and compliance requirements directly: Research and understand accounting standards (revenue recognition, accrual rules, audit trails), VAT/GST rules across jurisdictions, and payment regulation without a separate Legal or Compliance team. You partner with external advisors and our Finance team for validation, but the knowledge and decisions are yours.

  • Translate regulatory and accounting requirements into clear technical user stories and acceptance criteria that engineers can build against. You are responsible for making sure what we build is both correct AND compliant; not just for coordinating between departments.

  • Partner with engineering and platform teams to design secure, resilient and scalable payment and invoicing systems, including support for multiple currencies, tax treatments, payment provider integrations, and regulatory audit requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement of billing operations: reduce manual reconciliation, improve cash collection, automate dispute handling and refunds, and eliminate error-prone manual workflows.

  • Work closely with Customer Success and Sales to understand commercial contracts, pricing models and invoicing needs; translate these into product capabilities that support new business models and market expansion.

  • Define and track KPIs for billing health and performance (e.g., DSO, failed payments, reconciliation accuracy, invoice timeliness) and use data to drive prioritisation and validate delivered outcomes.

  • Own delivery predictability: plan integrations and migrations with external ERPs/accounting systems; ensure data integrity through testing, validation, and smooth financial close processes.

  • Act as the product authority during planning, grooming and delivery ceremonies; own communication of roadmap, trade-offs and release plans to all stakeholders.

Requirements (Must-Haves)

  • 3+ years hands-on as a Product Owner or Product Manager in billing, payments, invoicing, or revenue operations within a scale-up or high-growth SaaS/fintech company. You should have experience shipping features in this domain with small teams (not just coordinating across enterprise departments). If your background is enterprise-only, this may not be the right fit.

  • Proven ability to own regulatory and compliance work independently: You've researched VAT rules, learned revenue recognition principles, understood payment regulations without a dedicated Legal or Compliance team. You're comfortable learning these things yourself and validating with external advisors or Finance as needed.

  • Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals: revenue recognition principles, accrual vs. cash accounting, reconciliation, audit trails, VAT/GST mechanics across multiple jurisdictions. You should be able to explain these to engineers without a finance specialist in the room.

  • Hands-on experience designing or shipping features that integrate with payment gateways, acquiring banks, ERP systems, or accounting software (SAP, NetSuite, Xero, etc.). You've felt the pain of integration complexity; you know what "correct" looks like when you ship it.

  • Track record of delivery in regulated or fast-moving environments: You've shipped features that had to work right the first time (no "move fast and break things" here). Examples: compliance-critical changes, cross-border tax handling, or payment provider integrations.

  • Hands-on experience defining user stories, acceptance criteria and prioritising backlogs in agile environments. You own the backlog rigor—not a team of analysts supporting you.

  • Data-driven: comfortable defining, tracking and acting on product metrics (DSO, failed-payment rates, reconciliation accuracy, invoice timeliness).

  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex regulatory and technical trade-offs to engineering, Finance and commercial stakeholders.

  • Resourceful and pragmatic: comfortable rolling up your sleeves, researching answers independently, and making decisions under uncertainty. You don't wait for perfect information; you move forward when you have enough.

Nice-to-Haves (Not Required)

  • Experience with multi-currency or multi-entity billing (adds relevant complexity exposure).

  • Background in regulated financial services (banking, insurance, fintech).

  • Familiarity with B2B or enterprise SaaS billing models (more complex than B2C).

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science (equivalent hands-on experience valued equally).

Location

  • Preferably based in or near Rotterdam, Netherlands with ability to commute to Rotterdam-based office 3 days/week. Regular in-person collaboration with Finance and Engineering teams is essential for this role.

What We Offer

  • Full ownership of a business-critical product domain with direct impact on company profitability and cash flow.

  • Hybrid working model (3 days/week on-site in Rotterdam) with a collaborative, international team that values autonomy and clear thinking.

  • Hands-on, no-filter role: you shape the roadmap, own the trade-offs, and see your decisions land in production.

  • Work at the intersection of product, finance and engineering—solving real problems with high business stakes and technical complexity.

  • Opportunity to grow as a product leader: own a domain, mentor team members, and influence company product strategy.
