Lead Developer

We are seeking an experienced Lead Developer to join our growing development team. We develop best-in-class voice assistants (“Digital Hosts”) who answer the phone for companies such as ANWB, Coolblue and Eneco. As a market leader in speech technology and AI in customer service by phone, AssistYou transforms the way customers and companies interact with each other. Examples of situations that we solve for our clients' customers are: no more waiting for service, no more annoying menu options, and no more customer service employees that have to ask you who you are and what you are calling for. Who are we

We are a team of around 20 people, made up of software developers, AI & machine learning engineers, customer success specialists and sales & marketing managers. Our office is located in the center of Rotterdam, in Het Groothandelsgebouw (right next to Central Station). As we are growing rapidly, serving more and more customers as well as expanding our product offering, we are looking for a Lead Developer to join our team!

Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Management

  • Lead and mentor our team of developers.

  • Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Software Development

  • Lead the design and development of software applications by providing technical guidance and expertise to the team.

  • Ensure the implementation of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Review code and provide constructive feedback.

  • Collaborate with our Product Owner to understand and deliver on user requirements.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering skills

  • Deep knowledge of PHP and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js).

  • Solid understanding of software development principles, best practices, and methodologies.

  • 2 - 3 years of experience leading a team of developers.

  • Fluent in English.

Preferred

  • Fluent in Dutch.

  • Experience with Terraform.

  • Experience with a practical application of AI / ML, ideally with speech recognition or text extraction and classification.

  • Experience with Google Cloud.

  • Knowledge of VoIP technologies.
