The Role
As Appsilon, we are looking for a an ambitious Technical Sales Professional with a deep understanding of diamond-based cutting tools and a passion for delivering advanced machining solutions to industry leaders. That refers to bridging the gap between precision tooling technology and customer productivity across various significant sectors such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and electronics.
Core Responsibilities
- Promoting and selling lab-grown and single crystal diamond (SCD) cutting tools for non-ferrous, composite, and hard-to-machine materials.
- Identifying customer pain points in precision machining (e.g. tool wear, edge chipping, thermal deformation) and recommending tailored tool geometries and coatings.
- Collaborating with Production and Product Development Teams to ensure technical feasibility, including considerations such as: Optimal rake angles and edge preparation, Surface finish requirements, Workpiece-tool interaction at ultra-high cutting speeds, Tool life under dry/micro-lubricated conditions
- Conducting customer site visits, cutting trials, and process audits to evaluate performance improvements in chip control, cutting force reduction, and machining time.
- Preparing ROI analyses based on performance metrics: tool longevity, cycle time savings, and dimensional consistency.
What We Value
- Must have minimum a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or similar departments),
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales or application engineering of diamond or ultra-hard cutting tools.
- Must have a good command of English, including having knowledge on technical literature,
- Strong knowledge of: Material-specific tool design (e.g. for AlSi alloys, CFRP, ceramics), Machining parameters: cutting speed > 1500 m/min, feed rates, and depth of cut, Tool failure modes: flank wear, crater wear, edge chipping, Precision grinding, brazing, and laser processing of diamond tools
- Proven ability to engage with production engineers, buyers, and Product Development teams at customer sites.
- Solid communication and presentation skills; able to translate technical data into customer value.
