About the Basic & Detailed (B&D) Engineering team

The B&D engineering team is part of the Innovations Department and is responsible for developing conceptual ideas into tangible products and services to serve our clients’ needs. In other words: Basic & Detailed engineers make it real and ready for operation! The B&D team is a multidisciplinary team of 16 engineers, covering fields of Motion Control, Structural and (Mechanical) Design. Engineers are grouped in two project teams to focus on delivering new solutions for our clients. Currently, the project teams are working on electrifying our rental fleet and developing a new system for the wind market which contributes to leading offshore access into a sustainable future. In this role, you will report to the B&D Manager, and on daily basis to your mentor and the Project Manager.

Your role as Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer you are focusing on the mechanical design of technological challenging and innovative products, during the development from concept- to final design. In a multidisciplinary project team, you work together with different engineering skills and act as the connecting link to implement all requirements for the final design. For this, you will involve internal and external stakeholders to ensure the proper fit that meets the clients’ challenges. You play an important role in the quality of the final design, technical product documentation, the handover to manufacturing and assistance during manufacturing. Throughout the phases you will have to be creative with a problem-solving mindset to overcome engineering challenges with your team.

Regular activities

• Develop the mechanical design of an innovative product within a multidisciplinary team and in cooperation with external engineering firms.
• Create 3D models, including drawing and reviewing.
• Perform calculations to verify mechanical design.
• Monitor and communicate the progress of the design, budget and schedule, including collaboration with suppliers and engineering firms to receive the required parts.
• Perform site-visits, assembly activities and on- and offshore testing to verify the specification.

We ask

• BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar.
• 0-2 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and development projects.
• Knowledge of large mechanical systems, steel constructions and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably SolidWorks + EPDM.
• Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written.
